Affliction: Day of Reckoning Card Finalized!!

The fight card for the upcoming Affliction show, "Day of Reckoning", has been finalized! According to the Affliction web-site the main card (seen on PPV) will feature the following bouts:

Fedor Emelianenko VS Andrei Arlovski

Josh Barnett VS Gilbert Yvel

Vitor Belfort VS Matt Lindland

Renato "Babalu" Sobral VS Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou

Chris Horodecki VS Dan Lauzon

The undercard, which can be seen on HDNet will include:

Day of Reckoning is taking place on January 24th, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.

Affliction: Day Of Reckoning card continues to grow!

As you all know, Affliction will put on it's second promotion on October 11th in Las Vegas, titled "Day of Reckoning". The card is headlined by a great heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett, with the winner hopefully getting a shot at Fedor. The remained of the card looks like this:

Of course we were all expecting to see Renato "Babalu" Sobral take on Tito Ortiz on this card, but that fight is not looking like it will take place. Especially since Babalu will be fighting in a title fight on a Strikeforce card on September 20th. Also, rumored to be in the works is a fight between former IFL champion Jay Hieron and the ever controversial Drew Fickett.

All in all, it's shaping up to be a quality second promotion for Affliction.

Affliction: Tito Ortiz said to have signed a "ground-breaking deal"

Arash Markazi of SI.com is reporting that Affliction will announce the signing of Tito Ortiz at a press conference on Wednesday.

Ortiz, who recently finished his contract with the UFC at UFC 84 in May is now a free-agent. There had been rumors of interest in Ortiz by Strikeforce, EliteXC and Affliction. But in the past month all signs seemed to be pointing towards an Ortiz / Affliction partnership. Ortiz was a very present figure at the Affliction: Banned show in July, he has a relationship with Affliction investor Donald Trump from "The Apprentice", and of course Babalu had called Tito out as his "dream fight" at the post fight press conference.

Tito states, "I guarantee my contract will be like no other," he goes on to say "It will be a ground-breaking record contract for sure, without a doubt". According to his UFC contract, Zuffa has the right to match his Affliction contract, but given the bad blood between Dana and Tito I don't think that'll be happening. Apparently Dana stated that he wouldn't match Tito's contract even if he were being paid $30 a fight.

More news should follow after tomorrow's Affliction press conference. But hopefully we will be hearing about the addition of Ortix VS Sobral at the October 11th card.

Affliction: Tito Ortiz VS Babalu?

Steve Cofield of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the next Affliction card, scheduled for October 11th in Las Vegas will include a fight between Tito Ortiz and Renato "Babalu" Sobral. As you know, the main event for this card will a bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Andre Arlovski.

According to Cofield, Affliction VP Tom Atencio will release details for the October 11th fight at a press conference on August 6th. Apparently Ortiz's UFC contract had a 60-day "non-compete clause" which has prohibited him from signing with any other organization as of yet. Ortiz, whose last fight was against Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 has expressed interest in Strikeforce and EliteXC, but was a very noticeable figure at the first Affliction card on July 26th.

At the post-fight press conference, after a victory over Mike Whitehead, Bablu referred to a fight with Ortiz as his "dream fight" stating that he'd "be here to kick his ass".

Well Babalu, you might just get your wish!
