‘Know various facets of Constitution’

NAGPUR: People should understand the various facets of the so as to elect the best-suited person to govern the country, said noted lawyer Firdos Mirza on Monday.

He was speaking at the event organized by Indian Bureau of Mines () to mark the day on which the Constitution of India was adopted.

Deputy director general (statistics) K Thomas, controller of mines (technical and mining research division) Mantu Biswas, director (mineral processing division) Indira Ravindran and president of Ambedkar Smruti Samiti DW Beck were present.

Mirza shared the analogy of a country and its constitution having the same relationship as hardware and software where one doesn’t run without the other.

Beck said, “The Constitution can be used as an apparatus or weapon to overcome the problems the country is facing.”

Biswas said Ambedkar was the pioneer of the Constitution. Ravindran said Ambedkar paved the way for fundamental rights like liberty, equality and freedom in this democratic world.

Thomas urged to follow the constitutional rights as well as respect them.

Bhavika Ramteke presented ‘Hamara Bharatiya Samvidhan’, highlighting the fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution. The Preamble was recited in Hindi and English by Thomas and Biswas.

Pradnya Deo introduced Mirza. AA Gavai conducted the programme while Rucha Warhade proposed vote of thanks.
